Design

Elaborate and interesting metalwork involves detailed design. David Freedman studied art for many years and worked as an architects draughtsman. Ironwork and sculpture designs are always prepared in discussion with clients so that the desired result is achieved. Sometimes in the case of sculpture a model or sample can also be made as a visual aidDesign for a set of gates for a private residence. The theme of the design was 'decaying grandeur'

Design styles vary from contemporary to historical and often incorporate elements of both to produce pieces that suit their surroundings

Landscapers and architects can commission David to design and produce architectural features to enhance projects. Ironwork and sculpture can either be detailed early on in the design process and ideas can evolve as the garden progresses or it can be incorporated into mature and established settings or once landscaping is complete.

More images and details of the finished gates can be seen on the gates and rails page

In the case of sculpture, the design process is often more conceptual where the design drawing will give a guide to the final piece but the work can develop during the physical process of sculpting
