In the summer of 2008 I travelled to Sweden to study at Gransfors Bruks, the world renowned axe makers. I studied tool making under Master Blacksmith Lars Enander, learning to make laminated knives, specialist tools and axes. During the course we followed steps in this fantastic book co-written by master Lars. The book is a brilliant introduction to blacksmithing but also has plenty to interest the professional smith. I have been blacksmithing for 12 years but I'm still finding new techniques thanks to this. It is also an entertaining history of an ancient art.
