Most of our work is in iron which is traditionally shaped using fire, hammer and anvil. We also use other metals such as tool steels for knife and tool making as well as non ferrous metals such as copper, bronze and brass for decorative and sculptural work

This clip shows traditional scroll making, forming a scroll using the edge of the anvil. The metal used is mild steel, though it is still commonly referred to as 'wrought iron'. Wrought iron is seldom used these days though it can be sourced for use in restoration and instances where the original material must be matched such as in listed buildings.

This copper lampshade is one of six made for Bantock House in Wolverhampton, an Arts and Crafts period house. The shades were commissioned to hang above the billiard table and were made from copper sheets using basic techniques of cutting, edge rolling, folding and riveting with copper riveets. Some of this work was done on a small anvil and some of the texturing was done by beating the metal with a rounded hammer on indented wooden blocks. The hanging rings were made in brass.
